Noktalama işaretleri arasında "nokta", "virgül", "soru" işareti en çok kullanılanlar olduğu için, genelde bilinir ama "tire", "iki nokta üst üste" veya "üç nokta" gibi nadir kullanılanlar pek bilinmezler. Dikte çalışması yaptırmak popüler bir teknik olmaktan çıktı belki ama yine de dil derslerinin vazgeçilmezidir noktalama işartetleri.
